Sworn to the Queen

A stone castle where the Queensguard stands in rows and a heavy door shuts off the royal bedchamber. Kale, raised in the stables, has just been mocked into the guard; the others expect him back mucking stalls by nightfall. The queen chooses him anyway, because he looks back when she looks at him. Touching her means death under the law. The court will soon choose her a husband, and she wants one night of her own first.

1. Ep. 1Chosen for the doorno account

   Before the court a guard warns that touching the queen means death, and the others laugh at a stable hand in the Queensguard. The queen asks Kale his name, hears that nobody wanted him, and assigns him to her bedchamber. Alone, she explains that the law binds only his hands, feels his pulse pounding, and claims the night for herself.

2. Ep. 2Holding the crownfree account

   Inside the chamber the door gets barred, and her crown goes into his two hands with a warning that letting it fall counts as treason. She has him recite the law aloud. She reveals the court picks her husband tomorrow, says the law really protects him from her, and announces that tonight she is not his queen.

How bold it gets

Restrained but charged: the first two episodes are commands, closeness and touching that only she is allowed, building to an intimate night in her chamber with his hands kept still.
