A city where everybody sells memories is the setting, and Olivia Carter is one of the couriers who move them on small chips. She lives by a single rule, carry and never look, and claims it keeps her alive. Her friend Sable laughs at that caution and pushes her toward one dive. The chip in her hand holds a stranger's night, and the man in it, Kael, wants her to stay with him.

Between jobs, Sable mocks Olivia's caution as adorable and keeps daring her to try a single dive. Olivia gives in. Inside the memory, a man named Kael asks her to stay with him and not look away this time, then speaks her full name, leaving her unsure how he knows it or why she is in his past.

A warning opens the second episode: a voice orders Olivia to return what she took from the chip and stay out of it. She ignores it. Kael, quiet and close, says that inside the memory it is only the two of them, then reveals a megacorp wiped him from the system a year ago. Olivia mentions a file to Sable.
