A tidy suburban house where the phone brings another delay: Amanda's husband is staying away a few more days to close a deal. The new neighbor knocks, out of sugar and light bulbs, and charms her with a joke about his dignity. Her best friend Sarah screens her calls but always listens in the end. Amanda wants to feel noticed again; the neighbor notices everything, including her name before she has given it.

   On the phone, her husband says the deal is dragging and he must stay out of town longer; he assumes she will be fine. The new neighbor knocks asking for a light bulb, then for the bathroom upstairs. Amanda leaves a message for Sarah about him. Leaving, he says she has a gift for calming people, then uses her name, which she never told him.

   Over drinks, Sarah asks how the neighbor knew her name; he claimed the mailbox, but Amanda suspects he is hiding something. Amanda says she has never cheated. Sarah says she should, because her husband always did. Amanda remembers that someone once revealed his affairs to her without giving a name; Sarah wonders whether the neighbor is that person.

How bold it gets

Very restrained: conversation, a borrowed bathroom upstairs and open talk about cheating. The first two episodes hold no kiss, only attraction and suspicion.
